Saginaw has been a legendary economic power during two periods of Michigan history – the lumbering era and the rise of the automotive industry. As each of these periods of wealth passed on, Saginaw experienced devastating losses in jobs and quality of life. However, as it has been before, the city is poised for another comeback, this time more solidly based on a diverse economy with its roots in the service and technology sectors. With the support of its Cities of Promise Partnership, Saginaw is preparing to build a more stable history.
